An interesting development has been announced in Dubai which points to closer coordination between regulators and economic authorities. It is another example of Dubai’s resilience and business continuing to move forward with confidence.
The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) and Ministry of Economy & Tourism have formalised closer cooperation on financial services oversight and audit alignment, with the MoU signed by H.E. Abdulla Alsaleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy & Tourism of Economy and Tourism and Mark Steward, Chief Executive of the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA).
At first glance, it is a formal agreement between two authorities. In reality, it signals something more meaningful.
When oversight becomes more connected, expectations do not stay the same. They rise around transparency, reporting quality and consistency, especially for firms operating in or connected to DIFC. From what I see in practice, this is where the impact will be felt.
For businesses, that ultimately brings clarity.
And for auditors, it sharpens our role ensuring that financial information holds up not only to today’s requirements, but to a more aligned regulatory environment. As a Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) and DIFC authorized auditor, KISA Chartered Accountants welcomes this initiative. Because when oversight becomes more coordinated, the room for inconsistency just disappears.
And getting it right from the start becomes significantly more valuable.
